Description
LOS ANGELES, CA — A wildfire that sparked in the Angeles National Forest near the Bouquet Reservoir rapidly ate up about 11 acres this week. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to 90 percent on Thursday.
Dubbed the Sierra Fire, the blaze erupted around 3:15 p.m. near Bouquet Canyon and Spunky Canyon, the U.S. Forest Service reported. Within an hour, it had spread past 10 acres.
On Wednesday afternoon, at least 10 homes in the area were evacuated, but the order was lifted in the evening.
Officials closed Bouquet Canyon Road to Vasquez Canyon Road to Spunky Canyon Road. The roads remained closed to the public Thursday to make way for emergency vehicles, according to Angeles National Forest officials.
