BURR RIDGE, IL — Republican congressional candidate Gary Grasso of Burr Ridge is a month behind in filing a mandatory financial disclosure report with the Federal Election Commission, according to the agency's website. His campaign said the report was filed Wednesday; it has yet to show up on the commission's website. This comes after the Daily Herald reported on Tuesday that nearly half of the non-incumbent congressional candidates in the northern and western suburbs failed to file in May. Grasso, Burr Ridge's mayor, is among them. The disclosure reports were due on May 15, but Grasso's campaign filed for an extension in mid-March, according to a member of Grasso's law firm who was in charge of processing the request. The extension was granted until May 27. The campaign then filed for a second extension on May 24, which was still pending as of Tuesday. The member of Grasso's law firm did not respond to Patch's questions about why an extension was filed or why the campaign was unable to file the reports by the first extended due date. Grasso is one of six Republican candidates running in the 6th Congressional District. Early voting is underway in Illinois for the June 28 election.
