HEALDSBURG, CA — The victim of last week's fatal Healdsburg house fire has been identified as Chase McCann, 26, KSRO reports.
McCann was among six people who lived in the home, the report said.
McCann's body was found in a bedroom, according to the report.
The other five residents escaped the house to safety but three cats and four birds died in the blaze, according to the report.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:03 a.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Prince Street and arrived to find a single-family home heavily involved in fire, the Healdsburg Fire Department said in a news release.
Crews entered the home to put out the fire and search for anyone inside. They found one victim and removed them from the home. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crews rescued two dogs and a cat but several other pets perished in the fire.
One firefighter suffered minor burns and was treated and released at the scene.
The Healdsburg Fire Department received mutual aid on the incident from Northern Sonoma County Fire, Santa Rosa Fire, Dry Creek Rancheria Fire, Cal Fire and Bells Ambulance.
