Press release from the City of Akron: June 14, 2022 City of Akron Press Release Akron, Ohio, June 14, 2022 — Due to forecasted high temperatures, Mayor Dan Horrigan has announced that the City of Akron will extend hours at four community "cooling centers" this week. The following community centers will be open for extended hours on Wednesday and Thursday (June 15 and 16) from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM: Lawton Street Community Center 1225 Lawton StreetAkron, OH 44320330-375-2825 Mason Park Community Center 700 E. Exchange StreetAkron, OH 44306330-375-2821 Patterson Park Community Center 800 Patterson AvenueAkron, OH 44310330-375-2819 Summit Lake Community Center 380 W. Crosier StreetAkron, OH 44311330-375-2826 All other community centers will also be open to the public during normal building hours and anyone in need is welcome to come cool off and get out of the heat. For a full list of center locations and hours please click here. The City will continue to monitor for continuous high temperatures and will extend community center hours as necessary.
