Description

WOBURN, MA — Commuter Rail lines in and out of North Station this summer will experience some service changes while an obsolete signal system gets an upgrade, the MBTA announced Thursday. Saturdays and Sundays between July 9 and July 31, and Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7, buses will replace the train service between Anderson/Woburn and Lowell on the Lowell Commuter Rail Line. Regular train service will continue between Lowell and Anderson/Woburn. The service changes are a side effect of the North Station Terminal Area Signal System Improvement Project, scheduled to finish up at the end of 2022. The project will upgrade the station's old signal system that controls the movement of some of the trains in and out of North Station.
