Description

Hello, I have been asked to find a perfect home for a sweet boy. I've been working with this sweet dog for a little over a month, and I believe he is ready to find his forever home. Very Tall/oversized young male Sheltland Sheepdog. He is the largest sheltie I have ever met. If I didn't see paperwork, I would call him another breed. This is an outgoing dog with a lovely temperament. He needs a young active home. He would love to have at least one man in the home, but this is not required. I've never had a dog who enjoys men so much. He really enjoys my adult daughter and has been polite to the few children he has met. He needs folks to have experience in training and who will continue to train him. He learned some bad habits that we have been working on. He walks well on a leash, but sometimes, it is still 'fun' to be a bit goofy which was a game for him. For this reason, I am not considering older folks. Normally, I believe that older owners make great homes for shelties. This guy needs an agile/active owner. He would love to go for hikes and perhaps someone who likes to play agility or other dog sports. I don't see him being as fast as a border collie, but he is interested in my jumps (set low). We have not tried teeter or tunnel. He loves to learn and wants to fall in love. He is very responsive to training. He is crate trained (large 400 size is what he fits in), and I believe he is house trained, but he does not have full rein in my home. He does not have a lot of experience with being groomed, so he will need more practice with that. He would like to sit on the couch with you after a long day of playing. Want a buddy to go hiking/camping/beach? This guy would love to be your best friend! He enjoys picking up balls and other toys and playing with them. He gets along with other dogs and is polite to cats. He would like to play with them, but they say... well things I can't type here. They don't run from him, so I don't know if he would chase. He thinks my chickens are aliens, and I'm glad there is a fence between him and them. References required (3 including a vet), plus home visit and signed contract. Local (within few hours driving distance) only. The backyard breeder of this dog has been contacted, and he did not respond to take responsibility. Feel free to send an email introducing yourself and your family. I will call you if you leave a phone number please.
