Along with producing “The Filmmaker Happy Hour,” over the past few years, the Media Institute has been hosting programs to support film festivals in the Pacific Northwest. Starting in Fall 2022, the Media Institute will begin screening award-winning films from Oregon’s non-Portland film festivals in Portland—in an effort to bring more attention to those events in Astoria, Baker City, Bend and Klamath Falls. And, on Friday, July 23, the Media Institute will host a backyard barbecue to spotlight the McMinnville Short Film Festival. 7 – 10 pm. In the upcoming years, McMinnville Short Film Festival aims to become a premier event—and will begin to host year-round events and also plans to become an Academy Award qualifying event. Meet the new Executive Director of the McMinnville Short Film Festival, Heather Older, enjoy a summer evening and watch a curated selection of short films from the recent festival.
