Description
"Do you remember a time when you knew exactly who you were, what you wanted to be, and where your life was going? When you do something that isn't healthy for you, or make a mistake, which part of you is it that recognizes the mistake? What part of you is it that holds the highest dreams and aspirations for your life? This part is your true self. The ultimate goal of being mindful within nature is to realize your true self and to live in it. Doing so allows you the opportunity to reconnect in positive ways with nature, with others, and with yourself." Hall, Charlton. (2015). The mindfulness-based ecotherapy workbook. Createspace.Join us at the foothills of the beautiful Catskills on September 10th for a day of mindful exploration through nature’s lens. Center yourself and experience the grounding, therapeutic effects of art, horses, yoga, and simply being - in nature. The day will include immersion in nature, guided art exercises, co-existing with horses, mindfulness, nature walks, yoga, and individual and group reflections - facilitated by a small team of locally-grown mental health counselors, in an expansive, magical, fields-and-forests setting. Re-root your organic self, weed out distractions, and rise anew. What does this retreat offer? The Root & Rise Retreat is a day-long, immersive experience in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. The general intentions of this retreat are to: Reconnect with how it feels to not be in “chaos mode” or “auto-pilot” → slowing downOpen yourself up and allow yourself to experience the awe and wonder that nature can provideRealign with your authentic, genuine self and set aside societal expectations and values Join horses in experiencing an unfiltered, natural way of beingYou may also have your own personal intentions for the day related to a specific area of your life. Who is this retreat for? Adults (25 years and older); all genders welcome. What makes this retreat a unique mental health and wellness opportunity? This retreat does not serve as traditional therapy; rather, it provides a space where participants can be in nature and see what comes up for them, or reconnect with themselves and others in a mindful and grounding manner. Professional mental health counselors will be facilitating and present throughout the retreat for support and guidance as needed. What results and outcomes can an attendee expect? "Studies have concluded that experiences in natural spaces lead to increased self-esteem, increased internal locus of control (meaning that people feel in control of their circumstances instead of being controlled by their circumstances), deep reflective experiences, vision-questing or determining a life path, enhanced abstinence effects for people with addictions, feelings of connectedness to Nature, feelings of Oneness, lowered heart rate and blood pressure, enhanced Stress Management capabilities, better immune system functioning, lesson recovery time from illness or surgery, and better quality of life."
