I recently got this duckling. We believe it’s a Pekin- definitely not a mallard which is the duck we have in this area. Actually took him from someone else on here as I can care for him for the time being but would love to find him a forever home. (Hope there’s no hard feelings if you see this lol) I don’t know how old he is, our guess is 3 weeks, but when put in the bath he came out soaked so he has yet to become waterproof. He has kinda imprinted on me so still young enough to do that I believe. (He curls up in my lap to sleep and screams when I leave the room and he can’t follow) Due to HPAI almost no where is taking in ducklings to rehab/ raise so I’d thought I’d come on here and either ask for advice for raising or give to someone who knows the breed, has the space, has the time, and is able to raise! Anything would be appreciated, texting is preferred, if you do take him he’s free. He’s eating so seems healthy, does make some weird breathing sounds but they aren’t constant and I’m not sure if their normal as I haven’t been around ducks long enough to observe their breathing. (current favorite food is mealworms, blueberries, strawberries, and corn) He has a little bit of an attitude at first but is a sweetheart when he gets comfortable around you.
