The Black Child Book Fair is coming to Evanston! This nationwide event will be held on Saturday, June 25th at Evanston Township High School 10:00am – 4:00pm.
Founded in 2019 by Chicago author, Darryl Harvey, the Black Child Book Fair promotes literacy by bringing independent African-American authors with positive stories and characters for young readers to learn from and identify with.
According to a 2018 study by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, only 10 percent of mainstream children’s books include African-American images.
The Black Child Book Fair has partnered with schools, boys & girls clubs and libraries nationwide to promote African-American children’s literature and has plans to go international in the near future.
