The evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a sit-down dinner featuring remarks by John Hewko, General Secretary and CEO of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. Hewko’s parents fled advancing Soviet armies across war-torn Europe — from Ukraine to refugee camps in southern Germany — and then began a new life in the United States. He says his desire to give back to the country that welcomed his parents is what motivated his interest in public service. Also speaking will be Mick Safron, Sr. Vice President of the Ukrainian American Coordination Council. He will address the efforts of UACC as they have pivoted from cultural, business, and humanitarian efforts to the sudden need to provide Ukrainians the tools to defend themselves from the baseless war that Putin has suddenly and mercilessly unleashed on the men, women, and children of Ukraine.
