Course Description In today’s environment, the use of trained close protection personnel in the sanctuary, and during other worship services open to the public is becoming a common practice. But obtaining the skills to provide close protection can be both difficult and costly. Join us in Brentwood, TN on July 16th as we provide a crash course in providing close protection in the sanctuary. Course topics include: The theory of close protection in faith-based environments Required equipment for close protection operations General threat categories and threat mitigation The solo practitioner: providing effective security as a lone protector Concentric rings of protection: the use of force multipliers Escort techniques: non-contact and soft empty hand control procedures Covert carry principles Review: effective weapons handling and safety Review: medical protocols and response Behavior threat detection techniques Inclusive All required training equipment to include: CPR manikins AED trainers First aid training kits Bleeding control kits Inert weapons Striking pads Communication equipment Instructor Michael Mann, CPP®, PSP®, CDEP has 30+ years’ experience in physical security, law enforcement, executive protection, and corporate security. Michael’s experience in close protection began during his service with the United States Marine Corps Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST), protecting High Risk Personnel (HRP) and foreign military leaders. Michael also served on the mayor’s protective security detail while employed as a police officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department, and he served as an executive protection manager for a large risk management firm. Michael has been both a regional security manager and global physical security director, and he serves as the manager of security for a large church with campuses in both Brentwood and Franklin, TN. Michael has Master of Science (MS) Degree in Security Management; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews and he studied terrorism at Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Michael is also a 35- year student, practitioner and teacher of modern pistolcraft and self- defense, and he serves as an adjunct staff member for a large university assigned to teach courses in criminal justice, homeland security and counterterrorism. Michael is also a graduate of several prestigious close protection schools and training programs including Executive Security International (ESI), RL Oatman and Associates, The Executive Protection Institute (EPI), and Toni Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute (VDI).
