What is a Red Tent? The tent symbolizes the cozy, warm, safe womb and the red symbolizes the life of blood. Communities around the world have been organizing Red Tents as a special place for birthing people to share their birth stories, celebrate pregnancy and birth experiences, and heal from traumatic ones. The goal of every Red Tent is to create community, record our stories, and practice deep listening. Every year San Diego Birth Network tries to capture qualities of empowerment, pride, community, and a sense of support, love, and innate wisdom. This is our sacred work. We hope that you join us. Who is this for?We are claiming this as a safe space for anyone who has the ability to give birth, has given birth, and/or was born with a uterus. In order to provide safety, we ask that anyone who does not identify as one of these to honor the need for safety and support the event and those who attend in another way. Some ideas may be: lighting a candle during the event time, offering to provide childcare, volunteering to help clean up the event, providing a raffle item. Babies who are not yet mobile, are welcomed to join. What to bring:-Listening ears and heart. You do not have to share your birth story to attend. And we invite our elders to share their birth stories in this space as well. A story is powerful and welcomed, no matter how long ago. -A pillow & or mat to sit on -A water bottle We will provide:- A COVID Conscious space - A warm community of Birth & Postpartum workers to hold space - Snacks & Beverages Raffle announcementEvery attendee will get an "Angela Ticket", a free raffle ticket. We honor our friend and former board member, Angela Diaz de Leon who used to win so many prizes at our Red Tents which we all would have a great laugh about. She would often gift them since she would win so many! We will be making announcements about the raffle prizes as we get closer to the event.
