All Hands On Active Shooter Incident Response training for the Deaf and interpreters is an all-inclusive training for Deaf, hard of hearing, children of Deaf adults, Deaf family members, Deaf care-givers, Deaf educators, and American Sign Language interpreters. The only requirements for attendance are: you must be 18 years old (or 12+ and attend with your parent or legal guardian) AND you must know American Sign Language. This is an ASL ONLY event, no voice interpretation will be provided. According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, an active shooter is "an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area." A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) study identified 200 active shooter incidents in the U.S. from 2000–2015 that killed or wounded a total of 1,274 people. Almost half (44%) of all incidents occurred in areas of commerce. And, over 60% of incidents ended before law enforcement arrived. To help minimize the impact of a shooting, individuals and communities must take steps to plan and prepare. Part of being prepared is being trained and ready to render life-saving first-aid. That is why an Advanced Bleeding Control (or B-Con) component has been added as an integral component of this training. All Hands On instructors are certified in Stop The Bleed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Each participant will learn the proper use and application of bleeding contol devices and have the opportunity to practice them in a safe, controled environment.  All Hands On Active Shooter Incident Response for the Deaf and Interpretrs is designed to help learners anticipate and recognize an active shooter/active threat situation and react appropriately if they are ever faced with one. Specifically, it covers how to recognize the presence of an active threat, the best course of action to take based on individual abilities and location, and the steps individuals should follow when law enforcement arrives. Be PreparedResponding to an Active Shooter SituationAfter completing this course, learners will be able to:Recognize signs that an active threat is nearIdentify the best course of action to take if confronted with an active threatExplain what to do when police arrive on the sceneNOTE FOR CONCEALED CARRY WEAPON PERMIT HOLDERS: NO WEAPONS ALLOWED! Absolutely NO weapons allowed at this training. In order to conduct this training in a safe and controled environment, absolutely NO weapons are allowed in the training area. If any All Hands On personnel or venue personnel discover a weapon carried by any attendee, that attendee will be asked to leave immediately.
