Dear friends,
Please join us for this special service of Evensong and festive reception afterward. The choir of 38 voices is made up of Calvary Choir members and musicians of the larger Memphis community. Joining us from the staff of Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Ollie Rencher will serve as Cantor, and Dr. Patrick Scott will serve as Organist for the week. The choir will sing music from the repertoire (a total of 23 pieces) they will sing at St. Albans Cathedral. For the week of July 11-17, 2022, the choir will sing daily services of Evensong and Sunday Matins in addition, a total of seven services. We hope to see you Sunday, June 26 at 5:00 p.m.
We will also live stream the service on the Calvary Episcopal Church Facebook page and the Calvary website.
Music will include works by Josef Rheinberger, James Cryer, H. Walford Davies, T. Tertius Noble, C. Hubert H. Parry, and John Rutter.
“Choral Evensong is a 45-min long peace-inducing church service in which the ‘song’ of voices sounding together in harmony is heard at the ‘even’ point between the active day and restful night, allowing listeners time for restful contemplation–church members, agnostics and atheists alike.” (from choralevensong.org)
