The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hit the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, July 20. Don Jenkins is headlining the show and Keith Hannon and Sara Cartwright are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters performed at the Funny Bone in Syracuse, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City, won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske, and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcast, On the Mic with Mike Peters. A gem of Schuykill County, Sara Cartwright is keeping comedy going in Pottsville, Pa. She hosts Lager Laughs and spends all day people-watching at her job at the truck stop to entertain the audiences at night. She hosts A Feature Like This, a podcast about movies, and does stand-up all over Pennsylvania. Keith Hannon began his lackluster descent into Stand-up comedy as a student at Ithaca College. After graduation, he went against his parents' wishes and took the pursuits to Los Angeles, where he performed regularly at several clubs, including the Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd. Now, Hannon has three children and finds nothing in life funny, but performs on occasion because it's an excuse to get out of the house. Originally from the Bronx, Don Jenkins honed his comedy in the mean streets of Brooklyn and Queens. After that, he moved onto performing at all the major comedy clubs in New York City, including Carolines, Comic Strip and Broadway Comedy Club. Now living in the Finger Lakes region, Jenkins brings his self-deprecating style of humor and observational comedy to Upstate New York.
