STAMFORD, CT — A man in his 30s was beaten and his car was stolen by four people on Monday afternoon in a parking lot on Stamford's West Side, according to police. Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department said a man was coming back to his black Volkswagen Jetta around 3:40 p.m. in the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Alvord Lane Monday when he was attacked by four young men. Conkin said the group dragged the man from his car, beat him, took his cell phone and keys, and drove away with the car. The man, who didn't know the assailants, refused medical attention, Conklin said, noting that a weapon wasn't used in the attack. Police are canvassing the area and reviewing security video, Conklin said. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD's Major Crimes Unit at 203-977-4417.
