Description

It is amazing how a blanket can bring so much comfort. The organization is still searching for a facility to house the Valiant Warrior Quilting (VWQE) efforts. When you look around your community, you likely see vacant buildings and think it shouldn't be hard to secure use of a facility. Unfortunately, it IS hard. Joshua's Hands has written to a number of property owners and called an even greater number, to no avail. Without a physical structure, Joshua's Hands we will need to conduct the summer VWQE from their homes again this session. All of the machines, fabric and supplies are packed into a storage unit and not readily accessible. So there is a need for quilters to reach into your stash for fabrics you can use. Knowing that times are tight and you may not have funds to purchase red/white/blue fabrics, go with what you have on hand. (emphasis on red/white/blue if you have it:-). Quilts will be collected through July. Labels can be sent by mail or the digital image for you to print on label fabric, whichever you prefer. This will be the 25th VWQE session. Joyce is sure there are quilters across the country who might like to participate, so spread the word regarding the plans... All quilt tops will be made at home.Finished quilts would be greatly appreciated.Labels are available.Quilt top guidelines - red/white/blue preferred - other colors acceptable; 50" x 80"Quilts or quilt tops will be collected through July 31. Please make arrangements with Joyce (540.454.2536 cell). Those who cannot drop off quilts should mail their quilts/tops to: Joshua's Hands 11479 Dutchman's Creek Rd. Lovettsville, VA 20180 Volunteers for long arm quilting, please send a note to say how many you are willing to quilt and if you will be binding them or not. VWQE will plan to have the quilting done in the month of August. Although this is not how Joyce would like to host the VWQE, it will offer the organization the opportunity to use their willing hands and servant hearts to bless those who do battle on our behalf. VWQE would love to find a permanent home in 2022. They have been gypsies traveling from one vacant commercial space to another long enough. Please keep your eyes and ears open for space that might work for this outstanding program. Here's to a successful time of quilting and to the day when VWQE can share time and space together on this project. From Joyce Guthrie
