New Website, LoudounFeeds.Org, Offers Local Resources In One Place

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — LoudounFeeds.org, a new website from the Loudoun Food Providers Group, went live this week. The site indexes information about the county's food banks and pantries including locations, hours, and what to expect when visiting the facilities. The Loudoun Food Providers Group was founded by Loudoun Hunger Relief to address food insecurity across the county by pooling the resources of local food banks. Jennifer Montgomery is the CEO of Loudoun Hunger Relief. She said that the pandemic helped providers realize the need for centralized information. "It became apparent at the beginning of the pandemic that easily accessible information for community resources was both vital and lacking. Many people who never needed human services were suddenly faced with finding help," Montgomery said. "The good news is that there are numerous places to get food assistance in Loudoun County, and LoudounFeeds.org will be an up-to-date resource." The organizers of LoudounFeeds.org said the website is a modeled after a similar effort from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. "We're grateful to be a part of LoudounFeeds.org," said Jacob Matz, partner engagement manager for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. "By working together, we can more effectively offer assistance for families experiencing food insecurity. We share a commitment to making sure that everyone in Loudoun County has enough to eat." In addition to its resources for people dealing with food insecurity, LoudounFeeds.org also has information about how residents can give back to their communities. The website encourages residents to volunteer their time, donate resources, and spread the word about local food banks. "If you need food, know someone who needs food, or you want to volunteer to get food out into the community, LoudounFeeds.org makes it easy to connect with organizations doing this essential work," Montgomery said.
