MADISON, NJ — Madison police have issued a warning to residents about an increase in scam attempts targeting Madison Electric customers. Scammers are contacting Madison residents via email, notifying them of a "power status final notice" and requesting that residents double-check their information to receive incentives/rebates. "Utility Billing does not send emails like this, and the electric dividend is automatically applied to all residents who qualify," police said. Police urge residents to be aware of this scam and not fall victim to it by responding to any phishing scam emails.
