WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs is shifting its efforts on streetscape improvements to another area of town, the village said Tuesday.
Recently, the village invested in projects such as sidewalks, plantings, furnishings and lighting around the Metra station and commuter platforms.
Now, the village is shifting its attention to Hillgrove Avenue, from Wolf Road to Walnut Street, the village said in a statement.
"We want to continue to support our vibrant businesses and offer a welcoming downtown environment with improved sidewalks, crosswalks, plantings, and seating areas," the village said. "Do you have ideas about what makes the perfect sidewalk café? Have you seen examples of plantings or amenities that might suit downtown Western Springs?"
The village is asking residents to upload photos of examples of what they would like to see. Photos are due by July 5. An open house is planned for later this summer.
