NORTHBROOK, IL — An arrest has been made in connection with an October 2021 robbery in which eight people stole more than $77,000 in purses and luggage from a Louis Vuitton store at the Northbrook Court shopping mall. Tony Simmons, 19, of Chicago, was charged June 11 with felony robbery stemming from the Oct. 5, 2021 incident. According to police, Simmons and seven other people entered the mall at 1515 Lake Cook Road, grabbed the door to Louis Vuitton, and forced their way inside the store. They stole a number of purses and luggage, valued at approximately $77,692. Several of the stolen bags had active GPS trackers inside them, and officers were able to locateone of the discarded trackers along Interstate 94. Police said the tracker was photographed, recovered, and sent to the Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Lab for processing. The investigation determined that a recovered palm print from the tracker matched Simmons, along with other evidence that placed him at the scene during the crime. Bond was set at $300,000 for Simmons on Wednesday. He is due back in court on June 22. RELATED: Thieves Steal $77K In Purses, Luggage At Northbrook Louis Vuitton
