Description
GILROY, CA — A proposed ice rink at Gilroy Sports Park in partnership with Sharks Ice will come before the Gilroy City Council on Monday.
The proposal would build a facility with two ice rinks at Gilroy Sports Park. Construction is projected to cost $30 million, which the city would provide to the Sharks with revenue bonds in exchange for a long-term lease agreement where the Sharks would operate the facility and pay back the bond.
The facility is slated to include two NHL-sized ice rinks, training rooms, offices, a restaurant/snack bar, pro shop and around 387 parking spaces.
However, it will not include a community center or a pool, though the city plans to continue discussions about those facilities.
The public is invited to weigh in on the proposal. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Monday at council chambers. Click here for the agenda.
