DUBLIN, CA — The 2022 Hike for Hope in Dublin's Del Valle Regional Park broke attendance and fundraising records, Hope Hospice announced. The May 14 event counted more than 1,300 registrants and raised over $180,000 for Hope Hospice's patient care and community programs. Previous records were 702 hikers in 2011 – less than half as many as in 2022 – and $114,758 in 2018. The top fundraising team was Team Myra Ann's 75th, which raised $5,175 and the top individual was Carrie Damschroder, who raised $550. The money will support free grief support, dementia education and family caregiver resources to more than 2,000 families around the East Bay. "We deeply appreciate the support from our East Bay community, especially during these economically challenging times" Marc Rovetti, Hope's Director of Philanthropy, said in a statement. "Many participants join this event to honor the memory of a loved one. But a growing number of hikers have no direct connection to Hope Hospice—they're community members who hear about our mission and our programs, and they fundraise to help support our cause. We can't thank them enough."
