Description
We rescued a German Shepherd from a co-worker’s family member. His name is Barkley. He lives up to his name. He’s amazingly sweet, especially with my kids, but not always towards other dogs. He loves the two other dogs I have, but barks and does not act very nice when he sees other dogs. I’m not sure if it’s leash/yard aggression or not knowing how to behave socially. The situation we saved him from was one where he was left in a kennel or outside alone at all times. He definitely has a lot of anxiety and behaves in ways that lead me to believe he was likely abused. I’ve researched and learned that his breed is notorious for having anxiety. He is also neutered.
All of that being said, I was a work at home mom who had lots of time for him when we took him on. I’m now not working from home, and he barks enough while he’s kenneled for us to work that my neighbors have begun complaining.
I’m not sure what to do, other than to rehome him. I think it would be best for him to have a home with land that he can run and bark until his heart is content, and I’m in an apartment. I’m not looking to make money on him, but I do want to visit his new home, meet his new owners, and ensure that he will be taken care of. There will be a rehoming fee. I will wait for the right fit.
