Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain grounds and turf of golf course in playing condition: • Performs general landscape maintenance using hand held equipment. • Rakes and maintains sand bunkers. • Rakes and maintains desert areas. • Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing. • Prepares soil beds for sod, seed and vegetative material. • Involved with task related to course detail (weed and debris clean up). • Assists with fertilizer applications on trees, tees, fairways, and rough areas. • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. • Operates utility vehicles and tractors for hauling material and removing debris. • Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plating, etc). • Digs and rakes ground to prepare new greens, grades and clean traps, and repairs roadbeds, using shovels, rakes, spades, and other tools may plant, trim, and irrigate trees and shrubs. • Notifies Golf Course Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent if supplies run low and if supplies are needed to do the task on hand. • Notifies Mechanics if equipment being used need to be repaired and/or broken. • Notifies Head Irrigator/ Irrigator if sprinklers are stuck on and if lateral lines are severed. Qualifications: • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: • May be required to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and difference between words and between series of numbers; to print and speak simple sentences. Physical Demands: • Regularly stands, walks, sits, and uses hands to finger feels or handle. Occasionally reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances; stoops kneels, crawls or crouches. Regularly talks or hears and lifts up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lifts more than 50 pounds. Environment/Noise: • Frequently works in the outdoors weather conditions. Occasionally works in extreme heat and/or cold humid conditions. • Works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works in high precarious places and in areas with fumes or airborne particles. Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
