QUALIFICATIONS • Must like working with jersey cows • A good attitude with a willingness to learn • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds without assistance • Be in good physical shape and able to perform physically demanding work • Comfortable working alone or in pairs • Must be prompt, responsible, and reliable • Must be 18 and legally allowed to work in the United States • English not required || Se habla espanol RESPONSIBILITIES • Set up milking equipment and prepare dairy cows for milking • Milk cows efficiently and in a timely manner • Bring in cows for milking and putting cows to pasture when finished milking • Ensure herding of cows is always done in a calm/caring and humane manner • Follow protocols to ensure proper sanitation of milking parlor equipment • Ensure wash down, scraping of milking parlor after milking • Ensure health care of the cows is monitored closely, bringing any issues to farm manager's attention • Assist with daily feeding of the cows and selecting feed rations • Clean corrals and maintaining bedding in the barns; scraping down barns • Assist with keeping farm clean and in good repair helping with general maintenance • Fix fences, as needed to maximize cow and farm safety • Other job-related duties and special projects as required GENERAL INFORMATION Small, organic Jersey dairy located in North Whatcom County looking for reliable milker/ farm laborer to assist or lead milking in 8 stanchion flat barn. • Pay: Starting $15-$18 per hour DOE • Milking times: 4:00am/ 3:30pm (milking typically takes ~2 hours from start to finish- including setup and cleaning) • Willing to work with scheduling: Morning, afternoons, weekends, holidays, etc • Will provide training/assistance until comfortable • Drug and alcohol free workplace • Must be able to pass WSP background check APPLICATION QUESTION: What interests you in working on a diary farm?
