For June, we are taking a break from our monthly Ancestral Healing: Curanderismo programming and offering a variety of options for Healing Circles. Circles empower participants by creating connections to self and community while exploring our identity and life with compassion. Sitting in circles and councils is a tradition that many cultures have relied on. As we take the time to come together, we practice welcoming the wisdom that is within each of us. We acknowledge how we show up in the world and tap into the gifts we have to share. We seek to grow our liberation as a radical act of revolution.Two opportunities to participate in circle:Womxn of Color Healing Circle, Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Community Healing Circle for BIPOC, Saturday, June 18, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Meet your facilitator, Melissa:Melissa is a long time Fort Collins resident. Some of her most valuable education has come through her lived experiences. She is the Mother of four children ranging in age from 7-17. She is passionate about creating and facilitating spaces where people can come together and uncover their gifts so they might share them with the world. In 2016 she began sitting in Women’s community circles through the non-profit organization Arkitekt. In 2018 she started facilitating. She joined the Board of Arkitekt in September 2020. She has trained with Carrie Haynes Sharp, a local therapist and circle facilitator advocate. In 2022 she completed Alternatives to Suicide facilitator training, led by The Wildflower Alliance. In 2022 she co-led a semester-long mindfulness circle for high school students. As a multiracial woman, Melissa has grappled with identity concepts throughout her life. As she invites the many pieces of her to coexist together she finds power and peace. She wishes to offer support to all including BIPOC, multiracial, LGBTQI, and first-generation students.
