Ken Burns is the executive producer of a major new public television documentary, Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness. The film, premiered in June 2022 and gives voice to the experiences of young people who struggle with mental health challenges and focuses on the importance of awareness and empathy. Join us on Saturday October 1 from 9am -to 1pm. We will start in the Procrastinator Theatre in the Strand Union Building at Montana State University. Teachers who attend this live event will view a segment from the film and then participate in a series of peer to peer conversations about topics of interest to them related to youth mental health. Local experts in counseling will be present to facilitate discussions and share resources. This event is free for all teachers who support K-12 students. Breakfast and snacks will be provided. Teachers who attend this event will earn 4 OPI credits and have the chance to win prizes. WARNING: This film and the topics discussed during these sessions are highly sensitive and will be upsetting for many participants.
