GRAMMY® nominated headliner and recording artist, Clint Holmes joins the JOI Septet to honor Juneteenth with works by ground-breaking jazz luminaries, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, and Thelonious Monk.
The music of "Miles, Mingus, & Monk" changed the jazz genre in profound ways and included works inspired by the Freedom and Civil Rights Movement's quest for equality and social justice which are as relevant today as they were then.
Come celebrate as a community this truly uniquely American art form, Jazz, with some of the best 1st call musicians in town and a legendary vocalist.
Included in the performance will be a life-changing event for two young students from Monaco Title 1 Middle School who cannot afford a music instrument. Jazz Outreach Initiative, through its "Jazz Routes" program, will present each student with a new instrument of their choice and a year of free private music lessons sponsored by our many supporters and in partnership with Music & Arts, the nation's largest instrument retailer!
