MARBLEHEAD, MA — The 2022 Marblehead annual town election ballot will include a handful of contested votes for elected office as well as the $3 million general tax override for Marblehead Public Schools and a debt exclusion for other town capital projects.
The five members of the Select Board — Jackie Belf-Becker, Moses Grader, James Nye, Erin Noonan and Alexa Singer — are all running for re-election with challengers James Full and Brett Murray also vying for the five open spots.
There is a contested election for School Committee where three candidates are running for two spots. Incumbent Sarah Fox is running with challenges from Reece Dahlberg and Alison Taylor.
Thomas McMahon is challenging incumbent Helaine Hazlett for one open spot on the Board of Health, John Attridge and Matthew Wolverton are running for the open town moderator position, Rose Ann Wheeler McCarthy and Pam Peterson are running for the one open cemetery commission spot, and Jean Jacque Yarmoff is challenging Walter Homan and Michael Hull for one of the two open spots on the Municipal Light Commission.
Question 1 will ask for the debt exclusion to pay for bond costs on town capital projects over the next five years.
Question 2 is the $3 million school general supplemental budget tax override that includes updates in curriculum, technology and security upgrades, a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion director, and free full-day kindergarten.
