2 Arrests, 2 Illegal Guns Seized In Connection To April Shooting: YPD

YONKERS, NY — It was lucky no one was hurt or killed, but police never gave up hunting for the men behind a shooting in a Yonkers neighborhood. On April 6, the Yonkers Police Department responded to Highland Avenue on a report of shots fired. Witnesses said two men fired shots in the direction of the building before fleeing the area. No one was hit by the gunfire and no injuries were reported, but several vehicles were hit. Investigators said they believe the shooting was in relation to group violence. The police made arrests in connection with the case this weekend. On June 10, both suspects were spotted together near Hawthorne Avenue and Morris Street. When the pair were approached by officers, both attempted to flee on foot before being captured. The two suspects were each in possession of illegal, loaded handguns, according to Yonkers police. The men who were arrested are identified by Yonkers police as Nigel Ousley, a 24-year-old resident of Hawthorne Avenue and Jerahmeel Singleton, a 22-year-old resident of Stanley Avenue. Ousley was in possession of a .380 Ruger semi-automatic pistol and Singleton was in possession of a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol, according to officials. Both men are being charged with felony weapons possession and felony reckless endangerment for the shooting on April 6.
