SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police say multiple parked cars on 3rd Street were broken into on Saturday night. At 7:02 p.m. Sunday, a resident of the 800 block of 3rd Street called the Secaucus Police Department and reported that someone broke into his parked car, and attempted to break into another one of his vehicles. A short time later, another resident on that same section of 3rd Street reported that her car was also burglarized and the individual also attempted to break into two more cars. Additionally, a resident of the 700 block of 3rd Street reported that someone attempted to break into his car. Two of the cars had been left unlocked, said police. Nothing was taken in any of the car break-ins. All of these break-ins had occurred much earlier, at 2 a.m. Sunday, said police, but people reported the break-ins throughout the day on Sunday. Secaucus patrol officers and detectives worked on the case and arrested Joshua Muniz, 28, of Secaucus at the Rodeway Inn Motel at 11:56 p.m. Sunday. Police say in total, he burglarized two vehicles and attempted to burglarize four others. He was charged with two counts of burglary [2C:18-2a(1)] and four counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary [2C:5-1/2C:18-2a(1)]. He was taken to the Hudson County Jail. "I am proud of my officers' and detectives' diligent work in making an arrest within hours of the initial report," Chief Dennis Miller said. "Additionally, I cannot stress enough that residents need to lock their car doors to curtail this crime of opportunity!" Was your car broke into Saturday night in Secaucus?
