Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: June 10, 2022 Shreve Memorial Library invites readers of all ages to discover "Oceans of Possibilities" during its Summer Reading Program. Throughout the summer, everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy a variety of live, interactive musical shows inspired by the "Oceans of Possibilities" theme and dive into an ocean of happy tunes and beats. Shreve Memorial Library audiences have already experienced the energetic fusion of Australian music, puppetry, comedy, and storytelling with Didgeridoo Down Under, but the music don't stop there. Over the next several weeks, teens will experience the rhythmic beats of Drum Circle with Noel Community Arts Program (NCAP) while children of all ages kick up their heels and sing along with award-winning children's musician Will Parker. Programs will take place in library branches throughout Caddo Parish. The programs are free, and registration is not required. Musicians and performers of the Noel Community Arts Program (NCAP) will visit Shreve Memorial Library branches and guide teens on a musical journey. NCAP is an outreach program that provides education in music and art, with a goal of facilitating mutually beneficial relationships between artists/musicians and students in order to spread a love and appreciation for the arts. Teens will share beats with NCAP as they learn about hand drums and percussion, while participating in a drum circle. The program takes place at the following branches at the designated times and date. Parker is a Children's songwriter and teaches artist to write and perform music for kids ages 1 to 100. During Will Parker's whimsical and interactive shows, Parker will play the guitar and harmonica and sing his original songs. Participants can expect to sing-along, dance, high-five, and use their imaginations. The audience will also help Will create an improvised song through their suggestions and input on what should happen next in the impromptu story.
