Native Grounds Nursery & Landscape Inc. is looking for a qualified person to join our landscaping team. Starting wage may vary depending on experience and availability. Experience is preferred, but not required. Scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following: Landscape Maintenance Duties: Fertilizing plants and lawns Apply organic herbicides and pesticides as directed Weeding, raking and mulching landscape beds Pruning small trees, hedges and shrubs Removing unwanted, dead or damaged plant material Monitoring and maintaining plant health Ability to communicate appropriately: Willingness to communicate with clients over the phone or on site as needed Ensure all paperwork submitted for maintenance accounts is filled out completely and correctly Note and communicate to supervisor any plant health deficiencies, irrigation repairs or other landscape issues that need correction throughout the season Landscape Installation Duties: Sod removal or install Digging trenches Install plants Install irrigation pipe, drip line and irrigation emitters Grade and rake soil Wheel barrow material and debris including soil, rock and mulch Install landscape fabric General Shop Duties: Work with landscape crew members to delegate and schedule tool maintenance; this includes sharpening, parts replacement, cleaning and fluid changes for both hand held and motorized tools as well as vehicles as listed in the maintenance log Work with supervisor to periodically review inventory and order parts and supplies as needed Engage in general shop cleaning and organizing as needed Skills Required: Ability to safely operate a full size truck while towing a trailer Ability to safely operate power tools and 2 stroke engine type tools Ability to communicate with supervisors, staff and clients clearly and in a friendly manner Ability to be proactive with learning and training by asking questions or for help when needed Ability to withstand challenging work conditions such as rain, snow, heat, dust, smoke, heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to 60 lbs.), bending over and stooping for long periods.
