WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police plan to crack down on drunk drivers during a Fourth of July safety campaign that will be in effect starting June 16. "We want all our residents and visitors to have an enjoyable and safe holiday," Woodridge Police Department Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a news release. "Remember – if you're going to drink or use other impairing substances, don't drive. We will be stepping up patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure everyone makes it home from their celebrations." Woodridge police shared the following tips to help drivers stay safe this Independence Day: Give keys to a designated driver Call a taxi, rideshare service or use transit if too impaired to driveCall 911 if you spot a drunk driver Make sure drivers and passengers in your vehicle wear their seatbelts This Fourth of July initiative is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns that are being supported by over 200 law enforcement agencies in Illinois. The campaign runs through July 5.
