Press release from the Wright County Government: June 10, 2022 A Message from Wright County Elections Introducing the OmniBallot The OmniBallot is Wright County's new assistive voting device. Federal and state law requires that all polling places must have equipment which allows for private and independent voting for voters with disabilities. What is an OmniBallot? The OmniBallot is a tablet that can be used in the polling place by voters who have difficulty marking their ballots by hand with a pen. Voters can make their selections using the tablets touch screen, directional navigation pad or the three-button navigation device. The OmniBallot comes equipped with headphones so that the voter can have candidates and instructions read aloud to them. The OmniBallot is available to all voters who wish to use it. Equipment Security The OmniBallot does not tabulate votes and it does not interact in any way with the other pieces of voting equipment in the polling place. The OmniBallot is never connected to the internet and the tablet has had its networking functions disabled. The OmniBallot is tested before the election for accuracy and errors, just like we would test any other piece of voting equipment.
