HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTSGUNFIREHighwood police were called to the 400 block of North Central Avenue at midnight on June 11 for a report of gunfire, according to a statement from city officials. It described the incident as a "family dispute involving rival gang members" in which "all participating parties have been identified" and promised that more information "will be released when appropriate." Highwood police did have yet to respond to a request for information about any arrests or charges associated with the incident. SHOPLIFTING Three shoplifters stole a blender and a vacuum cleaner worth about $594 combined from the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Road around 1:30 p.m. on June 5 before leaving in a blue SUV. The trio was composed of a man with a black t-shirt, jean shorts and white shoes, a man wearing a black shirt and jeans and a woman with long brown hair wearing a black shit and jeans. Both men had short hair, and all three were described as thin.A man with a brown beard who appeared to be in his mid 40s walked into the Thornton's, 55 Skokie Valley Road, walked around for several minutes, and drank two bottles of Fiji water before driving away in a silver Infiniti without paying. LOCKER THEFTS Someone got into a locked locker at the LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, and stole a credit card from inside at some point prior to 9:30 p.m. on June 9. The card was later used fraudulently at an unspecified merchant.At some point between 12:30 and 2 p.m. on June 12, someone got into a locked locker at the La Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, and stole a credit card, which was later used fraudulently at other unspecified merchants. ARRESTS/CITATIONSLaron Lewis, 27, of the 4000 block of South Lake Park Avenue, Chicago, and Aaliyah A. Martin, 20, of the 6900 block of South Yale Avenue, Chicago, were arrested around 4:30 p.m. on June 6 after officers were called to the Ulta Beauty store at 135 Skokie Valley Road for a report of two suspicious people. Store staff identified Lewis and Martin as the thieves who were responsible for a June 2 shoplifting incident and they were taken into custody. Martin was charged with one count of felony retail theft and Lewis was charged with one. Maggie Dudek, of the 1100 block of Ridge Road, was issued a citation for retail theft around 5:30 p.m. on June 7 after officers were called to the Sunset Foods, 1812 Green Bay Road, for a report of shoplifting. Dudek was accused of stealing nearly $200 worth of groceries. Fernando Martinez Jr., 22, of the 300 block of Center Street, Waukegan, was arrested on the morning of June 10 and charged with possession of between 100 and 500 grams of cannabis and delivery of between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis after officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, for a report of a suspicious car parked in a disabled spot.
