DETROIT — A father and son were shot in Detroit in two separate shootings Monday afternoon, police said.
Both men were recovering Tuesday morning after police said they were both shot in the ankle. Police were searching for the shooters in two different vehicles.
The first shooting happened at 5:45 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 near Chalmers Street when the son told officers someone in a white Chevrolet Impala pulled alongside him and began firing shots, police said.
After the man was struck in the ankle, he allowed the passenger in his car to drive him to St. John Hospital, police said.
While the man was in the hospital, his father was standing next to their vehicle when a black Chevrolet Equinox pulled up and fired shots, striking the father in the ankle at 6:20 p.m., police said.
Police released photos of the two vehicles they're looking for: the white Chevrolet Impala with the license plate of EMG 6198 and the Equinox with the license plate of ELV 9422.
Officials determined the shootings were related to each other and asked anyone with information on either incident, to call 734-287-5000 or 800.SPEAK-UP.
