DETROIT — An iconic LGBTQ bar in Detroit's New Center neighborhood suffered major damage after the bar caught fire Tuesday morning, officials said.
There were no injuries in the fire as officials said there was nobody inside the popular bar alongside Woodward Avenue when it caught fire around 11 a.m.
While firefighters were battling the blaze, officials said part of the building's back collapsed from the flames, sending firefighters into a defensive position.
Officials were still trying to determine what caused the fire.
Photos posted to social media showed thick black smoke pouring into the sky from the bar's roof, located on the 6000 block of Woodward Avenue.
Transportation officials said the fire has forced the QLINE to shut down, and there's no word on when it will reopen.
