GEORGIA — A second case of monkeypox in Georgia has been confirmed, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. A metro Atlanta male with international travel history is the second case of the infectious disease in Georgia, Nancy Nydam, a spokesperson for the department, told Patch Tuesday. The man is isolating at home and contact tracing is underway. Nydam said the case is not related to the first confirmed monkeypox case. Earlier this month, the department announced the first-ever case in the state. The case was detected in a metro Atlanta man with a history of international travel. He was ordered into isolation where public health officials are monitoring his symptoms, the department said.
