^^^^ link to some acoustic stuff I've done in my house
Want to start a band that plays covers of good indie stuff? I want to share lead vocals and play rhythm with laid-back, middle-aged (or whatever) folks who want to play music and have fun. I don't care about making money and I don't want to tour. I don't even want to play mid-week late shows, or out much at all. Just want a good space with a decent sound system and competent musicians. No originals. I just don't have the time, patience or ego to develop an original setlist anymore.
I have pro-level gear and am able to contribute to practice space/upkeep/new equipment. I cannot host practices.
I also play bass, keys and drums (drums was my primary instrument) and can switch around as needed. I'm capable of singing lead or backup while playing drums and am the kind of rhythm guitarist who can transpose songs on the fly -- I often learn songs upon first listen. I can't really shred, but I'm a solid and creative rhythm guitarist and know how to harmonize.
Some songs I would want in my setlist, as lead singer:
Guided by Voices - anything from Alien Lanes, Bee Thousand
The Replacements - anything from Tim, Let it Be (Can't Hardly Wait, Left of the Dial, et al.)
Archers of Loaf - Web in Front
Pavement - some of the more rockin stuff like Cut Your Hair
The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet
Let me know via email what you'd want to play in the setlist. I listen widely from 50s bop jazz to 2020s left-field (Death Grips and so on) so if you say you want to do a New Order or Wire cover or whatever, I'm down.
PLEASE no egomaniacs who get off on kicking people out of bands. Just want to find something fun and laid back with competent players.
