UCP of San Luis Obispo County is seeking Summer Camp Counselors for our upcoming 2022 Camp Kelley Creek that will take place from Sunday, August 28th, 2022 to Friday, September 2nd, 2022. We are actively searching for individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic, and are passionate about supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. The camp will be held at Camp Ocean Pines, a residential camp in Cambria, CA. Please note that camp counselors will reside in cabins with the campers for the duration of the camp. The job functions of these counselors include but aren’t limited to: • Supervising a small group of individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the daily coordinated activities • Ensuring the safety of all camp participants by being vigilant and aware of the camp participants. • Assisting participants with a wide range of needs including, but not limited to, walking, carrying food plates, morning/night routines, and staying on schedule Qualifications: • Positive Outlook & Attitude • Willingness to work as part of a team and help others • Previous camp experience is helpful but not required • Able to follow directions while maintaining flexibility • Effective communication with individuals with developmental disabilities, camp staff, and other volunteers
