Help Students from Mexico Practice Speaking English

Hey, local Dallasite here looking for local folks who have some time to spare to chat with foreign language students from Mexico. Many of these students are self-taught (adults living in the real world using their spare time) and not actively enrolled in any university. So they don't have a lot of spare time to find native English speakers to practice with. This volunteer opportunity is NOT in person, and it is NOT online. It's all done over the PHONE. So you don't have to commit to any set time, and there's no minimum amount of time required. It's all done at your convenience. I'll text you when a student from Mexico is on the line. If you're available at that time, you just reply to my text and then you'll get a call connecting you to the foreign language student. The rest of the phone call is in your hands: encourage them, build up their confidence, and spread goodwill as they improve their English. I often get asked the same questions, so here's the answers to your concerns (contact me if you think of something else): * You must have a +1 USA phone number (students want to speak with people from the USA) * Your phone number is never shared with the student from Mexico * All you need is a phone that can send/receive text messages and phone calls (sorry, no landlines) * Even though the caller is from Mexico, the phone call you receive is from a +1 USA number * You don't have to know any Spanish, but it can be helpful if you speak un poco de español Contact me and I'll get you set up.
