Description

Julia will be presenting on different types of grief and loss experienced in every day life. Some topics that she will discuss are: how COVID has changed the landscape of the world, job loss, divorce, and other examples. Another point of discussion will be experiencing and working with grief and loss in the therapeutic environment. 2 CEUs will be provided. See additional information about Julia below Julia has extensive experience (36 years) in the fields of hospice and bereavement care. Licensed by the State of Ohio as an Independent Social Worker, her experiences include caring for the terminally ill and their families, bereavement care services, community education, traumatic death interventions, research, supervision of graduate students, coordination of volunteer programs and development of psychosocial components for hospice programs. Julia is a skilled practitioner in counseling and program development, with a Bachelor's (Cleveland State University) and Master's Degree (Case Western Reserve University) in Social Work. She has published in The American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care and The Exceptional Parent. Julia is a founding board member of the Northeast Ohio Bereavement Council and was active on their board for more than fifteen years. Julia is an Adjunct Instructor at Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, and teaches their Death and Dying course and the Adoption course. She has traveled extensively throughout Africa and Asia, lecturing in hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and orphanages. She is on the boards of Ancient Path, an organization serving the poor in Malawi, and JCLC, serving refugees re-settled in Cleveland.
