02 November, 2022

Description

When Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are in place in schools, every professional in the building must engage with colleagues in the ongoing exploration of the crucial questions that drive the work: What do we want each student to learn? How will we know when each student has learned it? How will we respond when a student experiences difficulty in learning? How do we respond when a student has already learned it? In this course, participants will (1) remind themselves of the benefits of PLCs for improving student achievement; (2) identify the challenges of creating, reimaging, and sustaining PLCs; (3) learn specific strategies for designing, sustaining, or re-designing PLCs that are applicable to their schools today; and (4) understand the responsibilities of school leaders in supporting and sustaining the overall process. This course is based on the work of Lois Brown Easton. Refunds will be issued only to participants who contact SCISC five (5) business days before the start date of the program, or if the program is canceled.Event Credit: 6 AA Hours
