Each year, Yankee Brass Band entertains audiences throughout New England and champions the cause of “historically informed performance” within the field of American band music. Using rare and authentic period instruments, and outfitted in appropriate uniforms, the Yankee Brass Band presents the music of the “Golden Age of Bands” in much the same manner as in the mid to late 19th century. Rain Location: Union Episcopal Church About Yankee Brass Band For 34 years the Yankee Brass Band has both entertained audiences throughout New England and championed the cause of “historically informed performance” within the field of American band music. Using rare and authentic period instruments, and outfitted in appropriate uniforms, the Yankee Brass Band presents the music of the “Golden Age of Bands” in much the same manner as in the mid to late 19th century. After a hiatus during the last two years, the Yankee Brass is excited to present our 35th Season in 2022 touring New Hampshire and Vermont. From a scholarly point of view, the band strives for an understanding of the aesthetics and performance style of an earlier time. Band programs, personal papers, manuscripts and early printed music along with all sorts of band ephemera are all carefully examined. For one week each summer, the members of the Yankee Brass Band assemble from all over the country for two days of rehearsal and five days of concerts, bringing all of the diverse elements together for their much too brief annual tour.
