Description

Join us for a great summer celebration and fight animal cruelty at the same time. Come on out for a day of fun, food, music & more with proceeds to benefit Justice for Ludwig! The success of this event depends on your continued support. Put a stop to the seemingly growing trend of animal cruelty cases in Kane County, IL by helping us raise awareness and raise funds to bring Justice for Ludwig. The Justice for Ludwig Story: On August 10, 2021, Ludwig, a Dogo Argentino dog was shot to death by a neighbor, who also happens to be the husband of the Mayor of Wayne, IL and Kane County hasn't stopped talking about this case since. The shooter was carrying his legally owned .38 caliber handgun while claiming to have been cleaning up storm debris. He stated that he felt threatened by Ludwig and littermate Philo, and they were 5-10 feet away from him when he encountered them. The dogs had been playing in the river with a friend of the family. On 08/13/2021 the Kane County Sherriff's department went to the scene of the incident to collect evidence and take photos which were almost 72 hours after the incident. They couldn’t find the bullet(s). There are some witness accounts of hearing multiple shots. The Kane County State’s attorney made a ruling on September 15, 2021, that although it is confirmed that the shooting did indeed happen, there would be no charges at that time. She stated that the shooter’s account was not consistent with the family friend’s and accounts from the dog owner’s family friend were conflicting. An unidentified witness, 600 feet from across the heavily wooded riverbanks, this account was also conflicting with the accounts of the shooter and the family friend. Despite this decision support for Justice for Ludwig has only continued to grow stronger as evidenced by our Facebook group with over 5,000 members! UPDATE 5/23/2022: The Ludwig case will now be revisited! The States Attorney has since announced that she decided to present this case to a grand jury. This could not have happened without your support but the fight is still not over! The dog’s owner (Joe) has spent thousands of dollars of his own money on vet bills, Justice for Ludwig signs, and an attorney. The people of Wayne and the surrounding communities are still outraged. No warning shots were fired into the air, and no attempt to move away from the dogs. The concern of many is this will set a precedent for future pet shootings. The fight isn’t over, Justice for Ludwig will continue to spread awareness and pursue litigation to prevent this from happening again and becoming a precedent for future pet shootings. We are also concerned for the safety of Fox River family recreation and walking/biking trails as the shooting occurred on the riverfront. The media has helped bring this story to light but it’s people like you that help the most, please continue to follow and share this story on social media. And of course, see you at the Summer Celebration to take a stand against animal cruelty and corruption to benefit Justice for Ludwig.
