29th Annual Trauma Critical Care SymposiumPresented by Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Stanford Health CareSanta Clara County’s Level 1 Trauma Centers and Pediatric Trauma Centers, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Stanford Health Care, join efforts to provide this exciting 1 ½ day Trauma Critical Care Symposium! Learn about the assessment, management, and treatment of the critically ill and injured patient. This conference is intended for Physicians and Registered Nurses. CEUs are available. Visit symposium website » GOALS Provide broad continuing education in the management of critically ill and injured patients. Utilizing the latest guidelines and approach for the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of critically ill trauma patients. The goal of this course is to improve knowledge, attitudes and skills of trauma and critical care providers.OBJECTIVES Describe the latest science and approach for optimal care of the injured and seriously ill surgical patients.Discuss challenges to trauma care in the COVID-era.Address concepts in global surgery Discuss common issues in the management of trauma patients of extreme age.Discuss salient points related to the management of surgical intensive care unit, including monitoring, massive transfusion, open abdomen and rib fracture stabilization.Describe important points related to orthopedic evaluation in trauma patients.EDUCATIONAL METHODS Didactic lecture, panel discussions, audiovisual aids, and live sim performance. TARGET AUDIENCE The course is designed primarily for surgeons and mid-level trauma providers, nursing staff working in Level I-IV trauma centers. In addition, community general surgeons, emergency physicians, nursing staff and surgical residents involved in the care of injured persons.CONTINUING EDUCATION The RN CEU’s for this course is sponsored by the SCVMC Emergency Department. A California Board of Registered Nursing approved provider, CEP #8285: 10 Continuing Education Hours will be granted.The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center designates the symposium live activities for a maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ each. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is accredited by the California Medical Association (CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
