NEW YORK CITY — An off-duty transit cop was fatally and repeatedly stabbed by her estranged husband in her Bronx home early Monday morning, police said.
Arianna Reyes-Gomez, 31, was found dead with several stab wounds over her body in her apartment at 780 Grand Concourse, near East 156th Street, about 2:50 a.m., police said.
The killing is still under investigation but appears to a domestic violence incident, police officials told Patch.
The woman's estranged husband, 34, turned himself in at a nearby police precinct, officials said.
Reyes-Gomez worked as a transit cop and earned praise just two months ago for helping to save an unconscious man on a Brooklyn subway, according to an the NYPD tweet.
"Officers Oviedo & Gomez from @NYPDTransit were alerted yesterday of an unconscious man on board a train in Brooklyn," the March 25 tweet reads.
"They immediately suspected the man of overdosing & with the help of @FDNY administered two dosages of Narcan - successfully reviving & saving the man's life."
